From one of our favourite authors get ready to be challenged to re-evaluate your values and the decisions you make. If you are happy to look past the swearing and crude jokes (or better yet, enjoy how well placed and creative they are) then you should enjoy this one! Mark brings a refreshing writing style and pure bluntness to the 'self help' world teaching us that it's not about not giving a f*ck, but learning and chosing what to give a f*ck about! Evaluate the values you want to live by, and then start start actually living by them! A great place to start if you're feeling a bit lost in who you are, what you want to become, what you want from life, and why the world seems so damn effed! Start here and then progress onto his book 'Everything is f*cked - A book about hope' |

A Book about Hope Mark Manson And it just gets better and better! If you thought you loved the subtle art, then you will LOVE this! After learning to choose and live by your values, it is important to understand how you and your values fit into the world. Lets be real, it says it in the title, everything is f*cked, but we can still choose to live a different way, understand the way we think, the way we interact, and realise that we are in charge of our own wellness. The general view of what happiness is and what we hope for are challenged in this book, and you come to realise that to be happy you don't need to live in field of daisies and unicorns, you just need to commit to your values, to others, and get by despite what the rest of society is up to. |
Atomic Habits
James Clear Sooooo goooood!! Some insight into the science behind our habits and habit change. The importance on focusing on identity/values rather than outcomes. And overall some very good steps to follow to help create good habits and get rid of bad ones! When I started reading this book I couldn't stop talking about it! So worth the read. Easy to understand, well thought out and just so interesting! |
Why we sleep
Matthew Walker An absolute MUST read! It might scare you into sleeping a bit more, or just reignite your appreciation of a good nights sleep! Either way it's a goodie! Appreciate and respect how important that 8hours rest is for you and stop lying to yourself that you can manage without it! Some incredible information on the sleep of humans and animals, sleep's effects on our health and the development of our young, what dreaming does for us, and some great science to help you get back to some better habits! An absolute cornerstone to health, if you won't read anything else, read this! |
Blue Mind
Wallace J. Nichols How lucky we are to live in a place where we can get to water so easily! There are incredible effects for our mental health, no wonder we are so drawn to it! An incredible book explaining the importance of the big blue, and how being more in touch could be better for you |
12 rules for life
Jordan B. Peterson Well she's not an easy read, but she sure is a good one! Admittedly very academically written, so not always the easiest book to chew on, but certainly a very good read with some great lessons! We all need a bit of chaos and calm in our lives, but we need to make sure we balance them out! The world we live in can be more chaotic than we like, but if we understand it and make an effort to generate more calm we will live a more fulfilled life |
